Newcastle United Supporters’ Club London is delighted to announce that they have chosen Tim Krul as their Player of the Season for 2011-12. Tim is the latest winner of this prestigious award and previous winners include Shay Given, James Milner, Michael Owen, Steven Taylor, Jose Enrique and Fabricio Coloccini.
A presentation party consisting of Tom Gordon, Ian Glen, Ben and Roger Douglass met Tim pitchside before the Swansea match to present Tim with his trophy and a presentation cheque for Tim’s nominated charity – the Tiny Lives Fund Both Tom and Ian had met Tim before and were delighted to renew his acquaintance with Tim graciously signing photographs, shirts and his own goalkeepers’ gloves (which he had given to Tom at a previous match) before dashing off for Alan Pardew’s team talk.
Accompanying the selection of Tim as our Player of the Season our members raised ₤500 as a contribution to Tim’s chosen charity which is the RVI based TINY LIVES FUND which is dedicated to supporting the RVI’s Neonatal Service which looks after 600 newborn babies from all over the north of England every year. With this contribution the Supporters’ Club has raised well over ₤4,000 in recent years for Newcastle related charities including The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, The Charlie Crowe Scanner Appeal and the The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company.
Our thanks go to Mark Hannen and Dan Sheridan of Newcastle United for arranging the presentation and writing it up in the programme for the home match against Maratimo.
